For our second match of the season WNEC will take on Western Connecticut on Good Friday. After a victory over Westfield last week that was, frankly, by a margin much wider than the scoreboard suggests, we are looking to build upon last week's comprehensive performance. WNEC and WCSU have competed twice before, having split the contests between them, each side winning at home, so this match will assuredly be a hard-fought tiebreaker both clubs will take personally.
Five new names appear in the starting side this week, with fullback Tyler Modlish making his debut while Eastman and Fonseca hope to mark their first starting appearance with a win after coming off the bench to help secure victory last week.
WNEC Lineup -
1 - Ryan Shultz
2 - Jon "Frenchie" Ouellette
3 - Mike Fielding
4 - Sean Gallagher
5 - Jake Eastman
6 - Joe Monaco
7 - Dave "DJ" Shermer
8 - Stephen Farnham
9 - Zack Phelan
10 - Leo Belval
11 - Dan Palmer
12 - Craig Spyropoulos
13 - Dan Fonseca
14 - La Quan "Pookie" Schoolfield
15 - Tyler Modlish
Shermer, Belval, and Phelan will captain the side. Although many changes are enforced by injury, it is a credit to our strength in depth that this lineup is as capable as last week's. Backline defense was dominant last week and should continue in such a vein. The pack will seek to impose itself and has both the muscle and mobility to do so.
Match report to follow.
